CTL-ARC-001 practiceBefore work on or near equipment presenting an arc-flash hazard, the employer should assess the hazard and ensure exposed employees use protective equipment appropriate to the parts of the body exposed, including arc-rated clothing, face and eye protection, and insulated tools and gloves. Construction Subpart K sets no pre-work arc-flash assessment duty; arc-flash-specific requirements appear in Subpart V for power transmission and distribution work by qualified employees. Requirements cited are federal OSHA (29 CFR 1926). States running their own occupational safety and health plans can impose different or stricter rules. This talk is aligned with 29 CFR 1926 but is not OSHA-approved, and your employer's competent person is responsible for what happens on the jobsite.
